April 30 - Bosox beat A's, 18-18-1/8-14-5.  Cramer and Nonnenkamp each had 5 hits. 

 

May 2 - Yanks beat Tigers, 16-19-6/15-17-2.  Gehrig's final game was actually 5-1 but I used him in this game as PH (so he could match his actual PA).  Every Yank starter, except pitcher Ruffing, had at least 1 hit.    Cards lose their first game of season, after going 9-0, as the Bees beat them, 5-4.

 

May 3 - Yanks slaughter Tigers again, 16-21-0/1-5-3.  Every NY starter, including pitcher Sundra, had at least 1 hit.  Bill Dickey 4-5, 2 homers, 5 RBI, 3 runs, 10 TB.   NY has 5 HR.

 

May 4 - A's beat Browns, 19-24-2/5-8-3. 

 

May 20 - Tribe (Feller, 6-1, 2.28) beats Nats, 20-18-4/5-5-6.

 

May 21 - Chisox beat Nats, 21-22-0/2-7-5.  Pitcher Ted Lyons goes 4-5, 3 runs, RBI. 

 

May 23 - Phils lose to Cards 9-7, dropping their 17th straight.

 

May 24 - Phils (Passeau, 4-2, 3.88), beat Cubs 6-4, ending their 17 game losing streak.   Chisox beat A's, 17-20-1/8-12-5.  Every Chisox starter had at least 2 hits, except catcher Tresh (1-4) and starter Ed Smith (0-1).

 

May 26 - Yanks beat A's, 20-23-2/2-7-0.  Every Yank starter had at least 2 hits, including pitcher Hildenbrand (2-5), except Crosetti (1-6).  Dickey 6 RBI, Gordon 5.  Pirates beat Cubs 18-20-2/4-9-5.  Every Pirate had at least 1 hit.   Giants beat Phils, 17-19-0/3-10-2.  Every Ginat starter, except pitcher Schumacher, had at least 1 hit.  Demaree 4-5, 6 RBI, 2 doubles, homer. 

 

May 28 - Doc Cramer (.311) hits in his 30th straight game (every game this season).

 

May 29 - Cramer's streak is broken as he goes 0-3 (walk, run) against Yanks.

 

May 30 - Giants beat Bums in opener, 18-25-0/1-7-3.  Nats sweep A's, winning nightcap, 17-17-3/12-18-5.  Every Nat starter, except Cecil Travis, had at least 1 hit.  Jake Earley 3-3, homer, 6 RBI.

 

June 3 - Pirates beat Phils, 18-19-1/9-15-3.  Chisox's Johnny Rigney (5-3, 2.89) no hits (4 walks) Nats, 2-8-2/1-0-2. 

 

June 5 - Reds beat Giants, 18-19-1/1-4-2. 

 

June 14 - Boston's Doc Cramer's (.396) on-base streak (44 straight, from season-start) is halted in opener of twin-bill with Tigers.  Cramer goes 0-4 against Rowe, Coffman, Walkup and Thomas.  In nightcap, Cramer goes 2-4.  Reds beat Phils, 22-21-1/5-11-1.  Ival Goodman 5-7, 5 RBI, run, double; Billy Myers 4-4, 5 RBI, 3 runs, double, homer.    A's beat Browns, 17-21-2/8-14-0.   Giants beat Cubs, 16-17-1/10-10-2.  Mets hit 7 homers (Seeds 2, Danning, Ott, Kampouris, Bonura, Lohrman).

June 24 - Cubs beat Phils, 21-19-2/7-13-1.  Stan Hack 5-6.

 

June 30 - Yanks beat Washington 8-1 and move back into 1st.44-20, .688, versus Bosox 39-18, .684.

 

July 2 - Yanks split w/Bosox, taking nightcap, 18-23-1-3-5-0.  Every Yank starter, including pitcher Hadley, had at least 1 hit.  Joe Gordon 4-5, 10RBI, 2 doubles, homer, 1 run.  Red Rolfe 5-6, 2 doubles.  Bill Dickey 4-7.   Nats sweep A's, taking nightcap, 20-19-4/10-14-1.  Nats score 12 in bottom of 8th. 

 

July 3 - Taffy Wright 4-5, 5 RBI, 3 runs, homer.  Chisox beat Browns, 18-20-1/16-23-1.  Every starter for both teams, including pitchers Marcum and Bob Harris, had at least 1 hit. 

 

July 4- Yanks split with nats, taking rain-shortened nightcap, 19-21-2/3-10-1.  Every Yank starter, including pitcher Sundra, had at least 2 hits, except for DiMag (1-3). 

 

July 7 - Yanks sweep doubleheader against Bosox, moving 4 1/2 games up over Boston.

 

July 8 - Yanks sweep another doubleheader against Boston, taking nightcap, 25-27-1/3-8-1.  Every Yank starter, including pitcher Bump Hadley, had at least 2 hits.  Crosetti 4-5, 5 runs, 6 RBI, double, triple, homer, hit for cycle.  Tommy Henrich 5-6, 5 runs, 5 RBI, double, triple. 

 

July 9 - Tribe wins nightcap over Browns, 5-3.  Every 9 Tribe player has at least 1 hit, and all of them, except for pitcher Eisenstat and LF Heath (.282), are batting over .300.

 

July 13 - Nats beat Browns, 15-18-0/9-16-3.  Every Nat starter, except 3B Gelbart, had at least 1 hit, including starting pitcher Krakauskas. 

 

July 21 - Cards sweep Phils, taking nightcap, 21-22-1/8-13-2.  Every Card starter, including pitcher Mort Cooper, had at least 1 hit.  Jimmy Brown 6-7, 4 RBI, double, homer. 

 

July 22 - Bosox beat Browns, 21-19-2/4-11-3.  Every Boston player (all 9) has at least 1 hit, including pitcher Wilson.  Cronin and Tabor each had 5 RBI.

 

July 23 - Bosox sweep Browns, taking nightcap, 14-15-0/9-14-3.  In nightcap, every starter for both teams, except for Boston starter Wade, had at least 1 hit.  Doerr 5-6, double, Ted Williams 5 RBI, double, homer. 

 

July 26 - Cards beat Giants, 17-21-3/7-11-4.  Every Card starter, including pitcher Sunkel, had at least 1 hit.  Slaughter 3-5, 5 RBI, homer, 2 runs.    Yanks beat Browns 23-31-1/1-6-2.

Every Yank starter, including pitcher Ruffing (5-6, 3 runs, RBI) had at least 1 hit, except for 1B Dahlgren (1-6).  Selkirk 4-6, 2 homers, 5 RBI, 3 runs.   Pirates and Phils split, with Bucs taking nightcap, 21-25-2/0-6-1, scoring 14 runs in top of 6th.  Chuck Klein 5-5, 4 runs, 4 RBI, 2 doubles, homer.  Lloyd Waner 5 RBI. 

 

July 28 - Cubs beat Giants in 16 innings, 7-18-2/6-18-4. 

 

July 29 - Reds sweep Phils and move into 1st place tie w/Cards (61-27).

 

July 30 - Tigers sweep A's, taking nightcap 18-21-1/6-13-4.  Pitcher Freddie Hutchinson 4-6, 1 RBI, 3 runs.

 

August 4 - Browns beat A's, 18-18-0/6-16-4. 

 

August 5 - Chisox beat Nats, 15-23-2/10-19-3.  Every Chisox player, including the 2 pitchers, had at least 1 hit. 

 

August 11 - Yanks beat A's, 10-14-0/7-13-1.  DiMag 3-5, homer, now batting .402.

 

August 12 - Reds beat Cards, 2-6-2/1-5-1 as Bucky Walters wins his 20th (20-4, 1.82).  Reds are now 1/2 game behind Cards.

 

August 13 - Yanks' Atley Donald (12-4, 2.69) 1-hits A's in opener, 8-10-1/0-1-2.  Only hit is 4th inning single by Frankie Hayes.  Yanks take nightcap, 8-2. DiMag now batting .402.

 

August 16 - Yanks' 15 game winning streak ends as they lose 1-6-0/0-4-2 to Nats (Dutch Leonard, 11-10, 3.15).

 

August 18 - Yanks (Ruffing 18-2, 2.11) beat A's, 20-20-1/2-9-0.  DiMag 4-6, 2 homers, 4 runs, 5 RBI, now batting .413.  Keller also 4-6, 5 RBI, homer. 

 

August 19 - Cards beat Reds, 11-21-2/6-10-1, as Medwick (.385) hits for cycle (5-5, 6 RBI, 4 runs, double, triple, 2 homers, 14 TB). 

 

August 20 - Giants take Phils in opener, 18-20-3/5-8-4.  Jurges 5-5, 4 runs, double, homer.  Danning and Kampouris each had 5 RBI.

 

August 22 - Bosox beat Browns, 19-24-0/4-10-0.  Doc Cramer (5-6, 5 runs. .362).  Foxx now batting .418; Williams .385.

 

August 23 - Bosox beat Browns 17-24-2/1-4-1.  Every Boston player (only the starting 9 played) got at least 1 hit.  Foxx 4-6, 2 homers, double; now batting .422.  Williams 3-6, now batting .387.

 

August 24 - Cards beat Phils, 18-25-0/1-3-3.  Slaughter 6-6, 5 RBI, 3 runs, 2 homers.  Reds lose to Bums and Cards now 2 1/2 up in 1st.

 

August 25 - Yanks sweep Browns.  All 9 players get a hit in nightcap, and 8 of the starting 9 get a hit in opener (Selkirk up once, does not).    DiMag now at .409.

 

August 26 - Yanks beat Browns 17-18-0/4-5-4.   DiMag 5-5, double, 4 RBI, now batting .418.  Pirates beat Giants in opener 16-17-0/0-4-0. 

 

August 27 - Nats beat Browns 34-29-1/2-7-2.  Every Washington player had at least 2 hits, except pitcher Dutch Leonard (2-7, 5 RBI).  Case 5-6, 6 runs, 7 RBI, Buddy Lewis 6-7, 8 RBI.

 

September 4 - Pirates sweep Cubs, taking nightcap 10-5.  In nightcap, every player had at least 1 hit, including pitcher Klinger.  Tigers sweep Browns, winning in nightcap, 18-16-2/5-8-1, scoring 12 runs in bottom of 6th.

 

September 5 - Tribe beats Chisox, 18-17-1/3-8-2.  Every starter, except for pitcher Eisenstat, had at least 1 hit.

 

September 9 - Bosox beat A's 21-24-0/8-16-1.  Every Bosox starter, including pitcher Auker, had at least 1 hit.  Doc Cramer (.348) 5-7, 5 RBI, 2 homers, 4 runs. 

 

September 11 - Chisox sweep Tigers, taking nightcap 17-15-0/4-11-1.  Mike Kreevich 3-6, 2 homers, 6 RBI.

 

September 13 - A's beat Browns, 19-13-1/1-7-5.    Browns score 14 runs in top of 2nd against A's.  All 14 are scored off starter Buck Ross.  Browns win 21-21-1/3-10-2.  Every starter, including pitcher Jackie Kramer (2-4, 2 runs, double, 4 RBI), had at least 1 hit. 

 

September 14 - Yanks (103-35, .746) beat Tigers 5-4 and clinch AL.  Cleveland beats Bosox, 21-25-1/10-16-1. 

 

September 16 - Nats beat Browns, 17-18-1/1-5-5.  Every Nat player had at least 1 hit. 

 

September 17 - Tribe sweeps A's, taking nightcap 17-22-0/3-7-2.  Every Tribe player had at least 1 hit.  Campbell, Keltner and pitcher Milnar each had 4 hits. 

 

September 26 - Bums sweep Giants, taking nightcap, 14-19-0/9-9-1.  Johnny Ripple 6-6, 4 RBI,2 doubles, 3 runs.  Early Wynn wins his first ML game, beating A's, 5-12-0/2-8-1.

 

September 30 - Yanks finish season splitting w/Bosox, taking nightcap, 15-17-1/2-8-1.  DiMag (.428, 41.159) goes 6-9 in twin-bill (4-5 with 2 doubles in nightcap and 2-4 with 2 homers in opener) to pass Foxx (.425) and win batting race. NY finished 112-39 (.742).
