June 27 - Cards sweep Phils, winning nightcap, 20-21-0/2-4-4.  Every Card starter, except 1B Sanders, had at least 1 hit.  Walker
 Cooper 3-5, 5 RBI, double, homer, 2 runs.
June 30 - Cubs beat Reds in 16 innings, 2-8-0/1-5-0.
July 1 - Cubs beat Reds 1-6-0/0-7-0 in 16 innings.  VanderMeer goes first 15, pitching no-hitter for 7 1/3 innings.  Cubs'
 Passeau goes the route.
July 4 - Bums sweep Phils, taking nightcap 16-21-2/2-9-0.  Resier 5-6, 7 RBI, double, homer.  Camilli 3-4, 4 RBI, 4 runs, double,
 triple, homer.  Every Bum starter except Mickey Owen had at least I hit.  Cards (Mort Cooper 14-3/1.89) sweep, beating Cubs
 in opener, 16-15-1/0-5-0 and taking nightcap 10-14-2/0-7-2.  A's and Nats split with Nats taking nightcap in 10, 17-16-2/16-22-8.
  Every A's starter,e xcept pitcher Marchildon, had at least 1 hit.
July 11 - Yanks beat Browns, 15-17-1/1-3-1.  Joe Gordon 4-5, 4 runs, 4 RBI, homer.  Buddy Rosar 4-5, homer, 4 RBI, 2 runs.
July 24 - Reds beat Giants, 18-16-0/1-7-2.  
Cards and Yanks go 21-3 in July. 
August 2 - Giants sweep Cards, taking nightcap in 12 innings, 3-2.  Cards 78-23, .772, ahead of Bums by 18 1/2.  
August 6 - Bosox beat A's, 17-19-2/0-2-2.  Every Red Sox starter had at least 1 hit.  
August 7 - Bums beat Braves on combined 3 pitcher 1-hitter, 1-5-0/0-1-1.  Only Brave hit is Lombardi single with 2 outs in 4th.
  Bum starter Davis was injured in 2nd, Hugh Casey went next 6, then Head pitched the 9th (and won).
August 10 - Chisox beat Tribe, 19-19-1/4-13-3.
August 11 - Tribe beats Tigers in 16 innings, 5-8-2/4-13-2.  Pinky Higgins 5-7.
August 23 - Cards' Mort Cooper (20-6, 1.93) wins his 20th in relief, in 10th inning of nightcap in twinbill sweep of Bucs.  Cooper
 is 1st '42 20 game winner.
August 28 - Tigers beat Nats, 18-21-2/13-20-3.  Every Tiger starter except pitcher had at least 1 hit.  
August 30 - Yanks beat Detroit in opener, 16-20-1/2-5-1.  Every Yank starter had at least 1 hit.  Hassett 5-6, 2 RBI, 3 runs.  Spud 
 Chandler homer, double, 5 RBI.   Bosox's Tex Hughson (20-6/1.89) wins his 20th, beating Browns, 8-13-2/0-5-0.
September 5 - Browns beat Tribe in nightcap, 21-21-1/7-15-4.  Every starter for BOTH teams, except Browns' catcher Ferrell, 
 had at least 1 hit.  Laabs 5-6, 4 RBI, homer.
September 6 - Phils' sweep Braves with Frank Hoerst (1-17, 5.78) winning his 1st game of the year in the nightcap.  
September 10 - Yanks (101-36, .743) clinch after dropping 10 inning game 6-5 to Browns as Tigers (Newhouser) beat Bosox 2-0.  
 Braves beat Reds in 16 innings in nightcap, 5-9-1/4-9-2 after dropping opener in 11, 4-1.
September 15 - Cards (104-42, .712) clinch, beating Braves 15-19-0/5-8-2 as Bums lose 2-0 to Bucs in 10.  Every Card starter
 had at least 1 hit.  Hopp 5-6.
